Will I Need Corner Brick Slips?

Corner brick slips are used to create a clean, professional finish on external corners, giving the appearance of full brick returns rather than cut edges.

At brick-slips.uk, we recommend corner brick slips for any external corners or visible edge returns to achieve a fully authentic brick finish.

If your project is internal only or has no visible external corners, they may not be required. However, for most feature walls and external installations, corner brick slips are strongly recommended.

Why buy brick slips from Brick-Slips.UK?

Unlike traditional cut clay brick slips, our brick slips are purpose-made using moulds taken from real brickwork. This gives each slip an authentic brick texture while keeping the profile slim, lightweight and easy to install.

Every Rustic Cottage Red brick slip is handmade in the UK, hand-finished for natural colour variation and sealed before dispatch. The result is a practical, premium brick slip suitable for interior and exterior projects, including fireplaces, kitchens, bathrooms and feature walls.

Because our slips are only around 15mm thick, they are easier to handle and install than many thicker 20mm cut brick slips, while still creating the look of real exposed brick.

How Much To Order?

Boxes

Our boxes are sold with enough brick slips to cover half a square meter or 0.5m2 when used with 10mm spacers. To work out the amount you need simply calculate your area.

For example a wall measuring 2 meters x 2 meters is 4 square meters. Our boxes cover 0.5 square meters so you would need 8 boxes of brick tiles.

Corners

Corners are sold individually and you would need 14 corners to cover 1 meter in height. For example, if you have a chimney breast that measures 2 meters high on both corners you would need 4 meters of corners. 4 x 14 = 56 corners in total.

We do advise ordering an extra 10% in both boxes and corners to allow for cuts and wastage.

What You need

Materials For Installing Brick Slips

The materials you need can vary but in general, the below are advised. If you have any questions about the advised materials for your brick slips, do let us know.

1. Brick Slips
2. Adhesive
3. Primer
4. Mortar
5. Sealer (optional)

You want to use a 6mm notched tile trowel and a mixing trowel. For your first row you want to start from the centre of the wall.

You can go either left or right of this. Fit your first brick slip by spreading the adhesive to the back of the brick slip and the wall and pressing it against the wall. The continue to install the next brick slip placing a 10mm spacer in between them until, your row is almost complete.

Now that you have installed brick slips along the bottom row you will probably have a gap that is smaller then a whole brick slip. This is where cutting comes in to play. Measure the remaining space e.g 40mm, you will then deduct 10mm (to allow for the spacer) and mark your brick slip at 30mm. Using a wet tile saw or angle grinder, cut this peice from the brick slip. Once cut you will then spread adhesive on the rear and place this in the final gap with the cut end of the piece facing the edge of the wall.

Now that you have your first row complete, the next row, you will start offset from the first row to create a brick pattern.
