Brick tiles with texture in every course
Castle Blend combines brick-red and orange tones with touches of white and black. Its rough face gives a wall the uneven light and shadow associated with traditional brickwork. In a living room, it can frame a fireplace without the whole room needing a strong colour; across a kitchen wall, it brings a warmer backdrop to simple cabinetry.
The slips are hand-cast in the UK using cement, pumice and dye. Their approximately 190 × 59mm face creates a close-grained brick pattern, with a thickness of 14–18mm before adhesive. This is decorative wall cladding: specify the backing and fixing materials for the actual wall rather than treating the slips as structural masonry.
Start with a four-slip sample and try it next to the finishes already in the room. Orange tones may appear warmer under evening lights, while daylight brings out the pale weathering. Decide on the mortar at the same time: a buff joint softens the contrast, whereas a grey joint outlines the bond more clearly.

Castle Blend brick veneer around corners and reveals
A wall return is often the detail that makes brick veneer convincing. Castle Blend has matching L-shaped corner pieces, sold individually, so the textured finish can continue around a chimney breast or projecting edge. The corner measures approximately 190 × 95mm; allow 14 corners for a linear metre in height at the intended joint spacing.
Mark the courses from a level starting point, then set out corners and flats together. A little time spent on the dry layout helps avoid narrow cuts at a reveal or an awkward joint above the hearth. Do not take the corner quantity from the flat-slip box coverage: calculate the corner runs independently and review the final bond with your fitter.
Before fitting Castle Blend, read the installation guide and confirm the primer, adhesive and pointing mortar for your surface. Lay out the red-orange faces and matching corner returns together, check the course lines, and agree the joint finish before fixing the first slip.
Calculate Castle Blend brick cladding for your wall
Castle Blend is packed as 38 flat slips per box. With 10mm joints, one box covers approximately 0.5m² and two boxes cover 1m². Work from the net wall area, then round up to whole boxes after adding a suitable allowance for your cutting pattern and waste.
For a 4m² uninterrupted wall, the starting quantity is eight boxes before waste. Windows, sockets, stepped edges and a herringbone layout can change the number of cuts considerably. Draw each elevation, note corner heights separately and use the brick slips calculator as a planning aid rather than a substitute for checking the actual layout.
The Castle Blend specification lists A1 reaction to fire, frost resistance and a sealed surface. It can be used for interior and exterior wall projects, including fireplace surrounds, with a suitable installation system. For a stove, follow the clearance required by that appliance’s manufacturer and confirm the backing board, adhesive and mortar with the installer. Do not substitute a universal gap for the appliance instructions.
Prepare plasterboard only after checking its condition, fixing and load capacity for the complete finish. Select primer and adhesive for the substrate and exposure. Once fitted, brush off dust gently and remove kitchen marks with a damp cloth; try a mild cleaner on a discreet spot before using it more widely. A sealed textured face still benefits from prompt cleaning of spills.
